what a great welcome we got from such a fine listening audience…..it is the stuff of dreams-that so many will gather to hear Declan and I play our songs….we are both content just to sing at home in our work rooms but such gigs bring fulfillment and purpose purpose to our working lives…..thank you all out there

I,m bringing my wee boy to see you in Cardiff in April. He’s always loved your song about Napoleon Bonepart and the “bonny light horseman”, who, “in the war was slain”.
We used to have the casset in the car and he would listen to it over and over again,( as kids do!)
He is 8 years old now but was prob. about 5 when he first started singing it.
I wonder- – – could you play it for him in Cardiff?
The casset is broken now but it would be great to hear it one more time.

We will be in Glasgow and Edinburgh later in the year…that journey and those destinations we always enjoy…sure it can be a slight hassle for us to get our operation to The Clydeside and Auld Reekie but the welcome and fun we enjoy there makes any slight discomfort worthwhile.At the moment we have no plans to travel further afield but all that can change in a inst
Just in the door back home from a great few days in Kerry. The gig in the INEC was fantastic and if you were under a cloud for a little while it certainly didn’t show. Songs and music to ease our hearts flowed down from the stage, even the Redshirts didn,t bother us !!
Had to make a quicker return to the hills than expected, but for good reasons, so “grabbed the wife, threw the kid in the Corrola” and here we are again.

Dear Christy, yesterday st patricks day in cork city i broke down crying on the street, you see i started a childrens hospital 7 years ago in India and finding the money to keep it running is almost impossible, i shall not say it is impossible. each refusal to buy a 2 euro badge for the hospital yesterday stabeded my heart a little bit more untill i could not hold back the tears. i hoveled into a corner and cryed for 5 minutes uncontrollabely, eventually i picked myself up. what good is a shiveled up ball to anyone. i made 250 for from selling. we currently owe our medicine suppliers over 7000 euro, i can t remember if you sang that song the pub with no bear, we are the hospital with no medicine. i cannot do this on my own anymore i need help. we have just got a web site going. if you can have a look http://www.varanasichildrenshospital.org. there is tears in my eyes for to fail will mean that the drop in the ocean of humanity that we are will be a barron forgoten desert

It has been 15 years since I last played in Canada. I made 5 visits between 1985 and 1997 and enjoyed every one. It is unlikely that I will return as I now concentrate on working closer to home. I find it impossible to board those sky planes. I send best wishes to all Canadian ( and South Canadian) songsters, listeners and singers.
Hi Christy, i am part of a community education group and we are linked up with another group made up of lone parents fighting the social welfare bill due in April that forces lone parents into a welfare trap see http://www.sparkcampaign.com or http://www.alternativeeconomicorganising.wordpress.com for info on my group PRAXIS. Anyway, together we are doing a Project 101 campaign to get 101 public profile people (men and women committed to this cause) to sign up to a Committee that represents solidarity with the S.P.A.R.K campaign. The public people (like yourself) if they sign up pledge to have their name affiliated with the campaign and if interested also take part in a big finale event in Dublin to try stop the Bill being passed..they did a similar thing in the States in 1996 and a Prof there by the name of Eva Kittay who writes big on care and love and justice led the call for names there and has sent us a solidarity note wishing us well here with a similar campaign…i could send you more details if you sent me an e-mail address – would you be interested…i put this message on two boards sorry – was not sure which you reply to in person!! no pressure, i am sure you get a lot fo requests…

sound Mike….last night went very well for us…I had a bad day,I was visited by a cloud from The Black Valley, all my faith and confidence was dented..I felt I could not deliver, that it would be a fierce let down….but, as can happen, I reached out for help and walked out into the spotlight with Declan at my side…the spirit of the listeners raised me up and the black cloud wafted off as we spent 2 hours swappin yarns and songs with ye. The Kingdom air resounded with “Adelante” and Vive la Quinte Brigada”….then we drove back up the road with a sense of satisfaction for a job well shared and done. Shine on Mike

Christy ,emigrated to Canada in 1965 so was not up to par with your career progress until the wonders of the internet when I happened upon you on the late late show with gay byrne.did a bit of research and got you book via amazon uk called One Voice .Great read.Liked some of your comments relating to Newbridge .Bought back some good memories .I had my fill in 1987.the road was sometimes rockier than to Dublin but mamaged to stay on the wagon without falling off..Came accross a copy of a photo of the senior seconds from the 1962 annual.We both had a full haed of hair in those days.
Anyway I have become much more familar in you marvelloud career and wish you continued success as you bring so much joy and hope to so many people through your deeply felt lyrics to your songs.Maybe one day I will have the previledge hearing you sing in person.Take care.
